Of course, this is how it always goes. 3 days before the last contest of the season (ie, this weekend), a practice session ends in disaster. (Well, actually, since it was the first flight, I guess you could say it started with disaster also!)
Long story short, I'm now in the market for a replacement stabs (with pins) for a Maple Leaf 2-M Image. If anyone has a broken Image but good stabs (and I DO feel sorry for you for the broken Image) and you want to sell them, drop me a line with your price. Yes, yes, I'm going to contact Maple Leaf also, but thought I'd search out on the net first. Luckily, one of my cohorts hasn't assembled his Image completely yet, so he's loaning me his set for the weekend (and a bottle of wine or something). On a better note...I've always *wanted* to try that "how do you bring down a plane with no stabs" routine, and can now say I have done it, flying my Image down from about 200 feet, inverted, no stabs, but *lots* of flap!!!! Landed like it was made to fly that way! Just be careful with the turns, like in if you can avoid turning, you'll be a lot better off! e-mail direct, if you please.
