Doug Chambers asked about Reiher 2 Sources for Scale Short Kits and Parts?
I have built two Reiher 2 scale models. The first was a 3 meter 1/6th scale and the second was a 183 In. quarter scale.
The 3 meter kit if it is still available, was for sale from

This was a Triton Models kit, no longer in business. The wing span is 124", length is 52", wing area is 837 sq. in. The kit has a fiberglass fuselage, the wings are built up and sheeted with 1/16" balsa. The kit contains aluminum wing joiner blades that work just like a full scale sailplane. The 1/6 scale kit is complete with canopy, hardware and decals. The spoiler linkage is scale. The spoiler blades are located in both upper and lower wing surfaces.
This kit was the only one left in existance in 1999 to my knowledge. At that time the price was $350.
The quarter scale Reiher is a short kit. In 1999 it sold for $185 from:

The kit contains a very nice two piece fiberglass fuselage, cut foam cores, plans and instructions. All wood and hardware would have to be purchased.
The span is advertised at 187", mine measured 183." Length is 76". Wing area is 1785 sq. in or 12.4 sq. ft. The flying weight is 11-15 pounds. This is a large model that does very well on aerotow.
A set of quarter scale Reiher plans is available from Cliff Charlesworth in England.
There used to be a German Krick kit of the 3-meter Reiher but it is no longer available. That kit had the wing markings shown on the top of the wing in error. All pictures of the Reiher showed the markings on the lower wing surfaces.
A full size Reiher 3 has been built at the Wasserkuppe Museum and recently flown in Germany. The web address used to be http://www.segelfllug.de/vereine/oscwasserkuppe/reiher/ A picture of the Reiher flying is at www.soaringissa.org/wasserkuppe/photos/Reiher Schraguberflulg.jpg and also at www.osc-wassserkkuppe.de/
I have been a Reiher fan for at least the last 15 years. I do not know of any other kits. If the 3 meter kit is still available you should grab it while you can..
