Are there any aerodynamic advantages for a glider (slope) to be high, low, or mid wing? High wing is obviously easier in my aspects but I'm not opposed to building a low wing glider either. Mid wing seems fairly popular, too. Any input? _________________________

According to Horner, the mid wing has the least drag. Unfortunately, I had to turn in my copy of Horner's Fluid Dynamic Drag when I retired so I can't look up the exact reference. From what I remember, the wing root should be perpendicular to the fuselage at the intersection. This is one of the reasons for the gull wing on the Corsair (in addition to shortening the length of the landing gear). Some of the popular gliders of the last few years have extraordinarily dirty installations with the wing bolted on top of a circular fuselage with no attempt to clean up the acute angle between the wing lower surface and the fuselage. Of course there is always the chance that these designers have found something new that has escaped all the aircraft designers of the last 80 years. :-)
