There is no need to use strapping tape on the Gooped fuselage.here is the procedure that we use. 1.sand fuselage as smooth as possible. 2.fill any deep pits with lightweight spackle. 3.Lightly sand. 4.Paint with your favorite color. 5.Paint on a thick coat of Goop thinned with toluene.(Not watery thin but more like thick latex paint.)and let cure. 6.Continue painting more coats of a thinner mixture of Goop, letting cure between each one and sanding down any dingleberries that may form. 7.It will take at least 4 coats.I usually concentrate more coats at the nose area for extra strength. 8.Once you have all the pits gone you can paint with straight Toluene to smooth the finish out to perfection.(Toluene will re-dissolve cured Goop as many times as necassary.)
Don't get discoraged, at first it will look like crap. It isn't untill after multiple coats, and the Goop starts fully shrinking and curing does it start to look nice. The higher the tempature and the longer you let the Goop cure between coats to allow to shrink, the better! Good Luck, Gary Legerton > > Okay, I want to try the goop over EPP finishing method.
