The 8 hour slope task was my most amazing day of soaring. I couldn't have scripted it and quite frankly, others told me after the achievement, that they had real serious doubts if I was to be successful. I used two servo Olympic II (called Milvus Govindus) with 4 AA alkaline batteries, which in hind sight only left me 43 minutes extra of run time to spare. I used a standard 4 ch Airtronics Vanguard, and had to swap out the NiCad pack twice, returning the spare to the Sirius charger. Starting late is not conducive to achieving the goal, but having good buds near your side for encouragement is. It also helps for a bud to have a 1,000,000 cp spotlight, and another bud to play "tractor beam" during the last hour of your flight. Then there is the nearby high school football game with the bands playing, crowds cheering, and a full moon to boot... If I was to do it again, I would plan better, but I seriously doubt I'd have as much fun the first time... Thanks Rob, Brian & Ivy, Don & Betty, Jack and many others.

Brian Smith took me out one day with a plywood thing..LOL Sheared off the wing tip of my SailPig... He actually drove quite a distance to do it as well. When I did mine I used 4 double A batteries, 4 servos, in a Chicago Sky one, Style... It was a tuff day that day, the wind was blowing 25-35 and gusts to 40 depending where the storm center was I am not sure, but the 8 hour was as much fun for the witnesses as well , at least in my case. Looks like Me, Marc and Remus are on the same course for the Level V. Why do it....cause I can, It was fun, one of the better memories of my soaring career.. Honest.
