A couple of days ago I asked a general question of the masses, what pitch angle are you looking for with deployment of flaps say 45 degrees. I asked for comments off line and I would summarize the results.

Real easy task. Essentially everyone said that they set their planes up with either a dead neutral pitch change or a few to say 5 degrees down, at the most. Those with the programming ability dialed in more down right at the start to eliminate/minimize the initial up bounce with flap deployment. A few suggested that with greater flaps, they could accept a steeper pitch, but always relatively shallow.

More interesting were comments about setting the plane up to maintain a constant low speed with increasing flaps (by increasing the pitch angle).

Having the plane properly balanced was key to having stable slow flight with flaps down was mentioned by two folks.

Excellent information. I appreciate it.

Thanks,

Bill
