I am going to cover a BOT with skyloft that is a substitute for silk (from Dave Brown) but here it is so expensive to get Dope , my question is if there is a relevant property of the DOPE vs common transparent varnish or even wood sealer(it is not so transparent but it doesnt matter if it will be painted with some colors)
Dope shrinks as it dries. Traditionally airplanes used nitrate dope, but since model glow fuel has nitromethane, butryate dope is used when fuel-proofing is a concern (not in your case).
It is so common I'm surprised you are finding it expensive there.
