I understand the difficulty in stocking these goods. My interest stems from the fact that we are hosting the F3J Canadian team trials summer and then the F3J Worlds next summer. http://www.f3j.ca
I agree that it is tough getting the pilots to hand tow planes. I have a problem figuring out why. I get a kick out of pulling up a plane with my own power, even though I am an old guy, but getting club members to do this is like pulling teeth. One of the things I like about our sport is that we get a little exercise, even if it is just to pick up the chute occasionally. It beats just stepping up to the plate and roaring a power plane around for ten minutes. I think that maybe some folks have the idea that hand towing requires real athletic ability, when in reality with a little wind, the plane will actually be pulling the tow person. In one man competition tows, this may be a little more critical, but most of the time it is just fun.

There isn't much of a market out there for F3x equipment in the USA. Almost everyone is happy to fly on club winches and steer models around to the occasional thermal. It's all a matter of what you like.
F3J team selection happens every other year. In between, it's hard to find a contest. The same goes for F3B. We have one reliable contest in Eloy, AZ every year. Then there is team selections every other year. And the F3b pilots probably are most of the F3j pilots at team selection other than the local "I can drive there" pilots.
It's also hard to find monofilament. I buy boxes of it for the east coast F3b teams and sell the occasional spool to someone who wants to go to an F3j contest. Every one in business who has tryed the monofilament thing gave up because thhey had to buy a bunch of it and then it sat around for a year or two. Keeping a few grand tied up in something that doesn't move is not a good way to make money.
