Thanks to everyone that suggested answers to my problem. I eventually found the Quickchange program (don't look for 'quickchange' - it has a space in the middle in the versiontracker db and it doesn't find it) and used it as suggested. I can't say it was a pleasant experience; what a poor UI, no feedback, little logic in the presentation. No wonder Raskin keeps getting cross over where his Mac dream has gone.
