Hi All,

Since I saw Harley post a little while ago, I thought
I'd tell you all about a project I am working on too.
It will be called the lil' Genie. It all started
awhile back while looking at Harley's Jouster 2 meter
plans. I liked the lines and wanted a unique 2 meter
plane to play with. I decided to reduce the fuselage
area by reducing the plan by 10% and then stretching
the fuselage aft of the wing back to it's original
length. I sent Harley the preliminary drawing and he
liked it so much he built me a fuselage ready to put a
radio in it.

Now the pressure was on as I HAD to do something with
it now. I set to designing a bagged wing for it and
had Les Horvath cut the cores. It came out to a triple
taper 2 meter wing with a flat center section. It has
a SD7035 in the center section blending to a SD 7003
through the tip section. I had Phil Barnes do the
prototype internal structure and layup and make me the
first prototype wing. The layup is similar to the
Mantis 2 meter with a 2/3 chord uni-carbon skin with
Kevlar on the aft 1/3. The first wing is one piece and
I'm not sure if I'll leave it one piece or make it a 3
piece. Pluses and minuses on each method.

Of course it has all the usual Harley construction
methods and technology. The only deviation was for
this prototype to have a 1/2" carbon tube spar in the
center section instead of Harley's tried and true
built-up carbon spar. A concession to easier
production. My preliminary flights were quite
inspiring and work will continue. The prototype came
out to 37 oz. ready to fly. Look for it sometime in
the spring.
