Yes, takeoffs are optional and landings are mandatory. However, soaring is about soaring. If I wanted to do precision landings, I'd compete in Navy Carrier.

Because I have never seen you at a sailplane contest as a participant in over 6 years, and I fly in your neck of the woods frequently. And I have seen you only fly a sailplane once, about 5 years ago.
