This kind of thing really makes me grateful that I know so many fine people. Soaring or not, these are really fine people. I got to have several long talks with Don Harris and Jerry Shape. Rob Glover rode 400 miles each way with me just to hang out, keep me fed, mind my batteries, and keep me on the right side (!) of the dam. I probably talked both of Rob's ears off on the ride each way. Steve Siebenaler opened up his nice home for Rob and I to stay in, helped me out at the dam, and kept us fed. Including a wonderful Thai restaurant, after the flying. Bob Massmann came up to help too. He helped Jerry out all day and offered a lot of support to all of us. Bob even massaged Jerry's neck, when it got sore. My hat really goes off to Don Harris. Don and I had a mid-air about 4 hours into the flight. His wingtip broke off and that ended his flight 4 hours early. He later came back and spent several hours keeping Jerry and I going. Don's stories of his many eons of soaring experiences and friends, made the time pass quickly. Brian & Iva Smith. You two are the greatest. Thanks for your constant support and prayers. I've noticed that several of the level 5's I know (Rob, Brian, Don) are spending a lot of time helping and encouraging others in the program. Rob has gone out of his way to help me earn my 10k goal and return and my 8-hour slope this year. Like Jerry said, this is what soaring and the LSF is all about. I hope I can give back to others as much and more. Jon Stone RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
