With the popluarity of DS, and more 130" wing span TD ships, current loads have been rising on servo motors, so while the Volz HP and XP servos (Chrome case, Steel Output gears, high powered motors) have always featured Carbon Brushed motors,,,
Now all Volz Servos feature Carbon Brushed Motors (versus Paladium whiskers used on servo motors since the beginning).
So Dieter at ShredAir has decided to beat the Euro Muscle by just buying in higher quantity!
As you guys may or may not know...I've been doing Volz repairs in the USA for the last year or so as part of my hobby (not likely any mfg'r could afford to pay me for the time). Its fun stuff and I challenge myself to get them done and back in the mail the day I get them...(or the day I get home from the road).
So far I have only seen 1 standard Micro Maxx X with a chipped gear out of hundreds, maybe closer to a thousand since they have been introduced 3+ years ago. That's kind of good too:-)
Its not cuz they are 'metal', the reason can be seen here http://www.volz-servos.com/english/servos/micmax_eng.html
There are lots of great working servos available to us today and its because Volz has been setting new standards for other 'general' servo manufacturers to follow. Volz servos were created from day one for use in high performance RC competion sailplanes...and they can be adapted for use in Turbines, Ducted Fan and other high demand applicatons.
The point of this post is not to argue which brand is the 'best'..we get to buy what we want, rather I just wanted to let you guys know that Dieter is going to be stocking up and at this point, Volz is pretty much in a huge back order situation, so if you were thinking of getting some Volz, contact Dieter to get your order locked in.
I'm still flying the same old Micro Maxx's that I bought nearly 8 years ago in my CompFusIcon and my Synergy 5 DS plane as well as a bunch of other ships. The last Micro Maxx (non X version) was produced nearly 4 years ago. Imagine how far ahead of their time they were when they first hit the market 9 years ago and still have more torque, speed than digis of similar size offered today...at 4.8v....(all Volz are optimized for use with 4.8v to keep down current abuse to the rest of the system, but the new Carbon Brushed motors are up to 5 cells no problem).

Still planning on feeding and watering the horses today!
