I did this once, with mixed results...covered a carbon Renegade wing with Ultracote Plus. This was the self adhesive stuff that doesn't require much, if any heat. The results were quite good...until the first really hot Southern California day on the slopes a few months later. At that point, the covering totally bubbled all over the place and looked terrible. I ended up stripping off the covering and just painted the thing. Getting the old adhesive off was also a huge pain, btw (though I didn't know about Goo Gone at the time).
