I'll take a shot at a definition of a "Woody" contest... but it is only from what I have read online, I have never been to one before.

"Woody" Contest Definition:
A special interest contest where the CD determines what models can be flown and what can't. Some tasks flown may be oriented to more of a "fun fly" situation than a typical contest situation that we are used to today.

It is not Nostalgia, but some Nostalgia ships may be allowed to fly in a Woody contest.

It is not RES, but some RES ships may be allowed to fly in a Woody contest.

The models flown have wings that are typically built up with wood as a major component, usually open bay construction.
