The Gateway Open (June 19-20), which is one of the OVSS contest series, will not be MOM this year. It will be open winch, like previous Gateway contests. We are hoping to run it as MOM next year and thereafter. The club has plenty of practice at running a smooth open winch style contest, but none at running MOM. We didn't want to invite a big crowd of top competitors here to fly MOM until we had a chance to run some smaller contests in the MOM format, so that we can deliver a smoothly-run MOM contest experience to our guests.
Jack, you have been a participant in previous Gateway Opens, and you know that we have a great flying field and a turnout of strong flyers. This year will be even better, because of the OVSS connection and the efforts of Marc Gellart.
So mark your calendars, and join Elvis, Anna Kournikova, Tiger Woods (Elin will be with him), and other luminaries in our annual star-studded sod-farm romp. Lunchtime concert by U-2, with special guest vocalist Jim Bacus.
