We had a sweet NE wind this afternoon and Greg contacted me saying that he and my original slope mentor Mirko Bodul and possibly Russ Whitford would be at the lake here in Milwaukee get'n some stick time.
Since I was armed with my Pike and Compulsion what could I do but face the challenge :-)
Flying a TD ship with Wingerons and fast slope foamies is a hoot, sort of like watching part of the show in slow mo... :-) But when it came to landing, the park benches at our backs were no threat to a full house TD ship. Catches were simple normal.
We flew with some gulls for about an hour and then headed over for a burger and some micro brew at the local pub.
Good times had by all reminising about years past since the first day Mirko kidnapped me from the power field to fly some slope...and got me addicted.
I got report on the Kansas slope races and how George Voss raced his XBXC in the unlimited class for giggles. Greg got wood in every event and Pat McCleave took the big prize for unlimited class edging Greg out when Greg was robbed by a cut call and apparently fist fights broke out and guys went at each other with EPP swords and stuff..or not :-) Mostly they had the best event wind wize ever.
Mirko just got back from France where they actually have something worth liking them for...great and many ocean slopes. He's been Sportubing his ships over there for sometime and got to open it for customs just once when the guy was bored and just wanted to see a plane.
Wish you guys could have been there, but if you get to Milwaukee and want to meet, soar, or share a barley pop with guys of like mind, contact the SlopeFlyers.com guys...Greg and company. Check out his Website too. Slopeflyers.com. Home of the Wizard Compact slope speedster.
