The helicopter version and the airplane version have the same programming options. The first thing you do is sekect an aircraft type which can be a type of helicopter, an aerobatic model or a type of glider model. These options are identical regardless of the transmitter type. The Helicopter transmitter simply has a picture of a helicopter on the front, the three position start/speed switch is on the right and you don't get snap roll buttons. I am not aware of any other differences. The above is true of the Futaba 8 channel systems. I have both versions of those radios. My only Futaba 9 channel TX is a "T9CP". It has all of the model type options as well (aerobatic, glider one flap. glider two flap, five different types of helicopters). As long as you don't want to do snap rolls with your sailplanes you really just need to be concerned about getting the three position switch where you want it.
