>>the "mesa" Ahh yes, creating your own slope is the usual dream of someone infected with the slope bug but without a slope. Well, here's some advice to any in this position.
For 99.99% of folks; a bad slope would be hard to create. A decent slope impossible. A good slope ridiculously impossible. To do it you'd need: a Cat D10 or better, lots of time and diesel, along with the land, fill dirt and the skill to do it. Yep, it's pretty sad. Alternatively, I'd suggest that you honestly evaluate your area. Are there any places that you could attempt to slope? For many the answer is no. (We pity these folks. But they are the majority.) Don't fool yourself into calling an impossible location a slope. If you do in fact have some possible sites; employ several slope planes. Most light floater types. Strong lift is most always rare. Don't expect to fly a slope rocket every time you go out! You have to take what you can get. Favorable weather is another requirement. And, you can't construct it even with unlimited diesel. ;-) Vacations to a known slope area are about the most doable way to get some REAL sloping. Just be sure to team up with a local sloper. On the plus side, most slopers are more than willing so folks the local sites. I know the Maui, so. Cal. and Eagle guys are quite willing. Rumor has it that even the lone Janesville guy isn't bad. Although the slopes are only average. :-( Bill Swingle RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
