Hi all,

I got myself an old (but "new: never flown) Stratos F3B. It came with all
servos, receiver and battery. The battery consists of four Sanyo KR-1400AE
1400mAh, yellow colour with red letters.

To be sure, I soldered new wires on the battery and cycled it 5 times on my
Robbe Infinity 2; these are the results:

Cycle 1: Discharge: 1178 Charge: 1338
Cycle 2: Discharge: 1505 Charge: 1359
Cycle 3: Discharge: 1512 Charge: 1368
Cycle 4: Discharge: 1515 Charge: 1387
Cycle 5: Discharge: 1520 Charge: 1385

Can I consider it safe to use this battery ? The seller had no idea how old
it was. I realize the safe way is to get rid of it, but could I risk using
it in a "lesser" model (like e.g. an old glow-engine trainer) ?

Thanks,
Stefan.

Stefan,

What discharge rate are you using? If it is at least 500mah, these cells are ok. Like Jon said, if it give you about 80% of the rated cap., it is ok. If you charge them and let them sit for a day or two, and still get 90-100% of the rated cap. when you discharge them at 1C, they are good cells. But if in doubt, get new ones. Batteries are cheap, compares to the plane cost.
