For those who know a lot more than me I have a question.
Under ideal circumstances what is the best line tension one should use to launch a sailplane? That is, is there a formula I can employ to calculate line tension needed to launch a sailplane knowing such things as its mass, wing span, wing loading, method of construction (built up, composite, hollow) and any other parameters such as type of line (stretch , non stretch, twisted or braided, monofilament ) etc.
The reason I ask is because I have just finished building a winch in which I can adjust the output tension in the line without having to pulse the foot switch. Line tension can be changed easily and quickly to accomodate various planes.
TIA Andrew
