It's about 1/3 of the total launch time. This was not a full-size winch but the 1/3 factor is probably reasonably scalable. Time was measured from the max velocity at the 'dip' to max altitude/typical cruising speed. I timed a number of 3M ship, full bore launches at TNT (including a few Icons). Total launch time is about the same probably due to faster tow speed with more powerful winch system. Average of 9 launches. Time on tow: 8.4 sec Height on tow: 280 ft Speed at release: 107 fps Time in zoom: 4.4 sec Height (zoom only): 107 ft Final speed: 31.5 fps Final height: 385 ft Total launch + zoom time ~ 12.8 sec - Dave R RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
