Nathan - Go here for some really good camera reviews:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/ Then, think about if you really need a DSLR. For you use I would very seriously consider a high end digital with a nice zoom. If it were me, I'd look closely at the Nikon CoolPix 8800. 35 to 350 zoom and great features. A camera like this is going to do the job for you and then some, but it will save you the expense of a bunch of lenses, bulky bag and so on. I own a Canon 10D and a lens kit that includes a 16-35, 24-70, 50, and 100-400, plus an external flash, battery grip, and so on. Over $6,500 into it. But I also love to do photography as another hobby. For you I am 100% certain that the high end all in one camera will make you a very happy camper. The DSLR's are seductive, but unless you really want to get crazy about photography, I think you will eventually grow weary of lugging around a heavy bag and paying $1,500 for great glass. Frankly, I am thinking hard about the new Nikon for those times that I just don't want to drag the big one around with me. Ping me off the list if you want to talk more about this. If you are interested, here are some images taken with my 10D. These are all web (lower) quality, the full size images are spectacular. http://homepage.mac.com/wmalvey/Models/PhotoAlbum22.html http://homepage.mac.com/wmalvey/Models/PhotoAlbum23.html http://homepage.mac.com/wmalvey/Models/PhotoAlbum12.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bill Malvey RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
