Well I have to chime in here...

First you can get the Hoopes connectors with the DB-15 or the other
black connector.
Dammit Jim I am a Doctor not an electrician, and can not think of the
names of the black plugs Tom uses right now......lol

As to the "New" Wiring harness I will NEVER order another Icon again with
that POS harness in it I will only get it with the Hoopes or an
equivalent.
Here's is my reason.

I have a Few Icons all with the Hoopes connectors ( and a few other
birds...lol) and never had a failure due to the connectors in over 1000
hours of flying my Icons, now brain fade that is a another thread unto
it's self.

But when I got my newest Icon (pre NATS) with that P.O.S. new harness
read that as a Non-Hoopes.
I had two failures in the first two day's of flying. Compared to the
Hoopes the quality of this new harness is terrible .... Don what in the
He.. were you thinking. I ended up tearing out that "new" harness with
the third failure. I have heard of two others with Icons doing the same,
but I do not remember who they were.
I guess I got use to Millspeck quality. So if you order a Icon make sure
you get the Hoopes with the DB-15 not the "new" wire set.

Uh, the new ones with the DB-15 computer monitor connectors are not
Hoopes
connectors.
I have ICON's with both styles, I have not flown the new one yet. The
apparent difference here is the center panel now plugs into the fuse and
makes connection, the old style you connected the connectors, stuffed
them
and the wires in the fuse, and bolted the center panel on. I don't like
to
change things that work well, but this is the way the ICON is delivered
now
days. Bad thing here is I can't field swap ICON parts in the field with
this new connector, so that wing is now for that fuse only.
And with my last ICON I also took delivery of a new molded Image (ya,
not
an ICON 2m but it is painted to look like my ICON's), believe it or not,

it came with a Hoopes connector.

Yep, I know that, I wasn't clear in my post.

The new Van Leeuwen connector has served me well; flown at this year's
NATS and many times since. I was trying to point out, that I agree
that Tom makes fine connectors; also the new Van Leeuwen connector has
worked fine for me. It is possible that both these connectors are fine
products.
