Mark,

If the 8103 programming is anything like the 388, and I think it is, simply
selecting sailplane mode won't do the job.

In the system setting mode you need to activate "dual flap", and set the
FLAP setting to SW+T.

In the Function setting mode inhibit all the pots.

Probably you have already done the above.

The flaps will now be on the three position switch. You can use this for
camber changing simply by adjusting the flap travel adjust to an appropriate
small value, and setting the flap to aileron mix to 100%.

There are at least two ways of getting the landing flap settings on to the
throttle stick.

1). Use the Mix SP function, as envisaged by the manufacturer.

2). Use the Free Mixers. You will need three mixers, throttle to flap,
throttle to aileron (if you want "crow" braking), and throttle to elevator
(to compensate for the pitching effect of the flap.

I use (2), and use the Mix SP/F, SP/A, and SP/E functions for the launch
settings.

It works almost exactly the same either way, but my way allows me to use a
different offset for the spoiler/elevator mix, which helps in getting the
elevator compensation correct. You can't do that with the Mix SP settings
(on the 388 at least), but you don't need it for the launch settings.

I hope this helps. The 8103 may not be exactly the same, but I think it is
very similar.

Here's my 8103 tips collection again:

Hope it helps!
