**** There was a guy here local that had onboard GPS that would transmit
voice
down to a handheld receiver giving him altitude and airspeed updates
throughout the flight.
Does anyone know who may sell this equipment for models? Is there also
something that can give me a 3D model of my flight? ****
Hmmm, dunno about voice and GPS but Eagle Tree Systems has an onboard data
recorder that now has a telemetry output to a small base unit that displays
altitude, airspeed, sink rate, a number of other functions (user selectable)
and
has a vario function as well. The telemetry unit can send output to a
laptop (USB). Without the telemetry capability, the FDR records about an hour
of
data and can be dumped to the USB port after the flight.
A new variant is being tested soon that's more specifically suited for
sailplanes. I've been using an earlier model with very good results. The old
unit
will fit easily in a 2M fuselage. The new one is half the size and half the
weight and has better vario capability and better speed and altitude
resolution. Neat product so far. Looks like the new one MIGHT fit in a DLG.
Without the
case, dimensions look about right for an XP3.
