I think that he just enjoys stirring up the pot and sitting back and watching what cooks up. (smile)
Since I thought that my earlier post was rather clear (and so did Simon who offered some good points about these connectors), let me be perfectly clear....
read my lips....
make no mistake...
The connectors attached to Volz servos are NOT....
(this is a repeat, folks)
they are NOT "Volz Micro-connector Systems" devices!
Volz likes to call them this and Gordy will preach upon his pundit to the masses to this end, but let me repeat again....
these items are NOT "Volz Micro-connector Systems" devices!
What they ARE is a connector manufactured by JST called the "ZH" series connectors. In fact, the folks from Volz either purchase them directly from JST or from a wholesale supplier. You see, the conversation happens like this:
[VOLZ STAFF] Please send me another order of the "VMS" connectors.
[SUPPLIER] I'm sorry sir, but we do not carry that item.
[VOLZ STAFF] Oh then, well just send me another order of the three circuit JST "ZH" connectors.
[SUPPLIER] Of course, sir! We are happy to have your business.
I think that this is pretty clear, but just in case, I'll say it again... The connectors attached to Volz servos are NOT "Volz Micro-connector Systems" devices! They are "ZH" series connectors manufactured by JST.
Now, before anyone starts to warm up the tar and starts to pluck some of Gordy's chickens (doesn't Gordy sell chickens? ;) ), let me say that I have nothing against these devices. Simon pointed out that there are some serious issues concerning maximum wire gauge and load capacity which may or may not have some direct, negative aspects in regards to using these connectors for our hobby purposes.
My point is that if someone ("Volz") purchases something (JST "ZH" connectors), changes the name or the label ("VMS") and then purports that the device is a creation of their own or perhaps was made by a manufacturer for them specifically... well then, this is willfully misleading and insults those customers who have the intelligence and the wisdom to see the situation for what is really is - a plain and obvious case of misrepresentation.
I believe that Volz produces quality servos, but I think that it is a shame that they are not being forthright and honest in regards to these connectors.
