I'm still very fond of rec.models.rc.air and rec.models.rc.soaring,
and they're pretty much immune to downtime due to maintenance and
such, though it does seem that fewer and fewer people are
participating, having gone to the web forums instead.
(rec.models.rc.soaring is already pretty much dead, but
rec.models.rc.air still has some life.)

Which is very sad. I still prefer the Usenet format for discussions
of this nature (though mailing lists like this one work OK, but not
quite as well) as the interface is completely under my control, I
don't need to click on things, no advertisements, etc. ... but I guess
eventually I'll have to go where the people are :)
