Gentlemen,
It has come to my attention that the AMA is sending a ballot to past team participants to vote on the new F3J Team Selection Program Rules.I am asking all interested participants to consider the following points and Vote NO on the proposal as presented. As many of you know the TSC has modified the rules that we have flown the last 2 cycles, to redefine the "team protection" clause. In an effort to get everyone to fly against everyone, they have determined that the maximum team size should be 6. I am lobbying to get this number changed to 8. It is my belief that going to a maximum team size of 8 will allow teams traveling from around the country to fly in the Team Finals, without the need to come up with designated towers. I think that this extremely important as this is the avenue that most people favor to get in to the program. If we stay with the 6 man team with 2 people flying in a heat, you will need to have available 2 extra people who are non fliers to act as designated towers. I think that it would be beneficial for the program to turn these extra people in to participants. We will still all fly against each other, teams traveling to the finals will not have to look for locals to tow for the day, It will be easier from a logistics view for the contest organizers, Two teams of 4 can form an alliance in to a team of 8. It willprove to be a fairer way to proceed. Let's make sure that we pick this team in the air, not the guys that are lucky enough to get a launch at the horn in every slot. Please vote NO and pen in, change the team from 6 to 8. If you don't get a letter, please contact Lisa Johnson in Competitions at the AMA Headquarters. Thank you Larry Jolly
