Don,

It's not that hard.  Literally 95% preparation, then wait for the weather to be right.

Bathroom?  Do what you have to do.  Don't drink a lot before or during the 8-hours worked for me.

Food - Bring food you can eat with one hand.  Neck strap on the TX is a help here.

Plane - simple & stable to fly.  Kummerow Searcher RES worked for me.  Few servos, less power to consume.

Batteries - put lots of them in your plane instead of ballast.  I used two  4-packs of dry-cells in the plane.  TX - BIG battery, or have a buddy swap packs real fast.  Whatever you choose, test it and know how long everything will last.

Hardest part for me was keeping concentration up for that long.  Do whatever you have to, to make the time pass faster.  I really enjoyed listening to Don Harris tell stories of his soaring adventures.

BIG PICTURE of the LSF program.  Friends.  You get to make lots, and be one for others.  You can't get through this program on your own.

Jon

I got a question for you..how do you fly for 8 hours? Finding lift is the easy part ;-)...
No really... got to go to the bathroom, eat or worse yet battery going dead....
