I've been using PCM for years and here is how I set up my failsafe.
Initial flights are done set to hold so I can dial in the landing mode. Once
satisfied climb to a good altitude and pull the stick down to a position that
puts the plane into a slow steady glide (no porpoise). Remember that stick
position and land. Once on the ground set the stick to that position and set
the failsafe. Launch again and test by turning off the tx and see what the
plane does (remember to turn back on 8^). This also works if you have to land
out behind some trees, just turn off the tx. Don't ask me how I know this works.

OK, those of you who fly PCM - what's your preference on fail safe
settings (Hold Last Input, or Preset)? My inclination is to have
everything return to neutral except maybe rudder to 1/8 - 1/4 throw or
something.

Don't want to ignite a debate on why PPM is better...presume the
decision on whether to use PCM has been made.
