Thanks to all who answered my questions about the switch harness.

Apparently there are more problems with them that I was aware.

In summary if you are using a switch harness try to get a good one.
The deluxe JR switch was mentioned on several emails as a good model.

The funny story was other than the battery pack and the harness
everything else in the crashed plane was JR. I had one of the above
switch at home without use but saw no reason to replace the brandless
one that failed. I know better now.

Hope to see you all in Cincinnati. The forecast is looking good for the weekend.

The best switch harness I have found is an FMA heavy duty harness that I bought several years ago when I was still using FMA ham band receives. I have had more trouble with the charge lead on all switch harnesses. They all use the same plugs as used in servos and are not heavy enough to withstand all the plugging and unplugging when charging the battery. On two occasions, I have had the plug short out and melt in my had while plugging in the charger. On another occasion, I plugged the charger into the model and went to the drivers seat to turn on the ignition switch. When I got back to the model, the charge lead had melted and burned a whole in the carpet. If anybody wants to see the damage, I will be driving the van to the Nats.

I have been looking at the Multiplex switch harness that came with my Evo. I like the looks of the charge jack and would convert to it if I could find a source for the switch and the battery plugs. As it is, I am seriously considering going back to the old reliable Deans plugs that I used for over 30 years without a failure. Wish I could still get the old reliable Noble switch we used for so many years.
