If the club wants to do this I suppose that they can. Folks should be aware  
that the LSF rules state that contests with restricted entries are not  
allowed to be used to fulfill LSF task requirements.

The one and only local soaring club has  ruled that any pilot who lives 
within 
100Km who wishes to compete in their  local advertised contest, must first 
join 
their club. Has anyone else heard  of this before? 

Although this has little merit, the membership fee last  year was $40, now it 
is 
$100 (the dues were raised to offset cutting  grass).

Does this seem right to exclude locals (who may be members of  other clubs)?
