JR/Horizon has raised it's profile to the soaring community in recent years, and this is good. JR also sponsors some soaring events around the country. Most notably in their own back yard (Midwest). Most significant to me, they have tailored their products specifically to soaring pilots. Oh, and those pictures filled with red JR polo shirts don't hurt either. ;) Finally, there are folks who post about these events to this list. >From Horizon's recent increased profile, you cannot conclude that other >manufacturers are ignoring us. My observation, over many years, is that >other manufacturers do support soaring events around the country, and I am >grateful for that support. They have provided steady support, but in a >quieter manner. Mostly, they do not have vocal advocates who speak up for >them on this list. Maybe the other guys would be more noticeable if they had a bright colored shirts. :) Jon Stone PS. In my own backyard, Horizon (JR) has given longstanding and significant support to the Mid-South Soaring Championships, through raffle donations. At least as far back as 1997, if not earlier. I do recognize Horizon's continued support of soaring. Partly because of this, I personally have invested many hundreds of $'s in JR equipment in the past year, and another $200 yesterday.
