Today was as I spec ultated, good air but possible to miss it.
The thermal pattern stayed consistent as far I as I could see, yet some
didn't see it.
For the last round (Man On Man!) the computer program decided to fritz the
scores so its a final awarding of the trophies. Likely its Tom Scully with
his Challlenger, Doug Barry AVA and maybe Don Richmond or ??????? Wait till
tomorrow and I'll let you know.
DLG...it happened today.
One of my teammates new to contesting and soaring lost a plane in the tree
line and the plane landed in the river. As we went to retrieve it, they
opened a dam which brought the water speed up to about 1,000 hp and his 2m
lil bird didn't survived its resting place hooked on a log. He got the
remains and the radio etc are fine.
Don Richmond lost a wing tip off his Topaz (or was it a Saprano?) in any
case the wing tip rotored off into a thermal and took at least 5mins to end up
in a tree. Don flew out the flight and made a landing. The tip? Its gone.
Good times for old friends and a very very well run man on man day. I pity
the fool skipped this one. :)
