Gary passed away at 5:39 AM today in a hospital in Salt Lake City. He will be missed. For several years, Gary was my neighbor in San Diego. We spent many days and nights building, modifying, hashing and rehashing model airplanes. Gary was a meticulous builder. If it wasn't right, he scrapped it and started again. He spent months building a demo box complete with servos and moveable miniature control surfaces so he could learn to program his JR radio. The box worked fine, but I am not sure he ever flew a model with the radio.
He built an OLY 650 for me that I intended to use to instruct my son-in-laws, but it was too beautiful to fly. I did fly it once and then put it on the shelf to look at. It will have a renewed meaning now that Gary is no longer with us. I will miss those semiannual phone calls.
My sympathy goes out to his wife, sister, family members and to all of his many friends.
