There are two conflicting trains of thought here. One is that if you want to see the list thrive and not die out, it's better to at least post SOMETHING, even if it's not the most exciting flash bulletin in the world, in order to generate activity and "keep the conversation going", so to speak.
The other is that uninteresting posts and threads will bore everyone and prompt them to go elsewhere, therefore they should be avoided. Which is right? I don't know, but I'll admit that this post seems to suggest that I favor the first over the second. :) Here's another thought: Is it really true that there's an increase in the number of people unsubscribing? Maybe we just have that impression because so many people are sending the commands to the wrong email address. You're supposed to send them to [email protected], but many people are incorrectly sending them to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Perhaps that's because of the recent list software problems that have been reported, causing people to try everything they can think of when the properly addressed command fails.
