It was a fun weekend and the new "unlimited motor run" rules worked
great. You get the fun of a good F3J-like task without the towing
hassles. Each pilot decides how long (or short) to run the motor within
the 10-minute window, and the duration score begins when the motor is shut
off. SP400 and Unlimited classes were flown.
Attendance was not as good as hoped, probably due to the somewhat
out-of-the-way location (eastern Oregon). Jon Padilla and Steve Suntken
(both club mates of mine in Denver) won the Unlimited and SP400 classes,
respectively and took home a nice chunk of change. I managed only a 3rd
and 4th place, but the prize money still pretty much paid for the trip.
