I was flying a foam Corsair off a slope over Lake Erie. In this case, it was looking down at the Corsair, seeing it against the waves, (and occasionally humming the theme to Black Sheep Squadron). It just about made the hair on my neck stand up.

Black wire is not usually from water... silicone or acid yea..
Would I trust it... I would have my doubts... Good for a ship you are flying over water. :-)

But would you trust it? If you've ever dealt with black wire disease you
would always wonder.

Besides, fresh water is for sissies and other coastally challenged
individuals. ;>)

Well actually if you are flying over fresh water. and soak your
electronics in a dielectric oil you can safely recover your gear.
I bought Aerotrend's AeroPlate... saw it at the Wram show they run a
little N gauge train in water at the show.

As for what makes it aluring... I would guessthe risk of losing it in
the water...

RISK

It's forbidden territory, if you screw up, in most cases, your airframe may
or may not survive and your electronics will never be trustworthy again.
