Bob,
I fly sailplanes almost exclusively. But I like reading about other
disciplines also. Having the National Aeromodeling meet not covered
in the AMA publication is like the EAA downplaying Oshkosh, or the
PGA not covering the Masters. If it wasn't given coverage because
"only 5 percent of AMA members are contest flyers," then why bother
having the Muncie center at all? Why spend the money for the Nats?
The argument you use to keep coverage out of the publication is the
same argument that could be used to trim a lot of programs (and
staff) from AMA--it sounds OK at first, but then it is just illogical.
It would make more sense if you said that foregoing favorable
interviews of new ARF releases for a month would diminish your ad
revenue.
Why are other contests covered in detail, but not THE AMA NATIONALS.
No other event should be as prestigious or as self-promoted by AMA as
this one. I spend more time reading the Nats issue. Some of the other
issues can take me less than half an hour to go through, and I never
pick it up again, even though I am interested in scale and electrics
and sometimes even read a CL article--not often on that last one;
sorry, I know where your interests lie. ;-)
