I don't know how long the success of my Wood Crafters event will last, next year will be the 5th consecutive year I have put this event on at the AMA flying site. The high price of travel is a huge consideration by many. The Muncie Motels cost approximately $55. a night for AMA members which I consider to be a bargain, especially if I compare it to the prices I paid during my trip out west this summer.
Previously I announced a couple of open ch for WC 06, they have been taken and at the moment, all that is available is CH 42 for Saturday and Sunday's Grand Championship contest. This will change after last years entrants have a chance to register for WC 06. Who would have believed that a contest could be set up with one entry per freq ( with team entry on the same ch) and have 60 - 70 entries. I was considering using the Soaring field at AMA next year, but decided to stick to our usual location. We are very fortunate to have the availability of the AMA flying site. The new events for WC 06 will be a Cross Country Race for woody Scale sailplanes Thursday or Friday. This is a first for me, we'll see how it goes. Also, Speed 400 will be flown Thursday and Friday.
