Had bite to eat there, its downtown and has a good lunch. By the way
downtown is one street wide and about 5 blocks long....not too easy to get
lost...but while I was there I started thinking about the fact that I didn't
post a note about the killer slope I found on the southern tip of Aruba.
Its called Baby Beach and you can see it on a map. Its a long
drive from the farthest northern resort on the island....25mins....
This is a huge cliff slope, and the landing is ....foamish, or a glass
catch only, but tons of lift and an incredible view. Naturally the day I
went a storm had just come thru, and the wind was wicked. I decided to
bring one of my Moth's, and I got it going so fast in a little DS zone that
the fuse tore off (it had been ripped before), and the RX, battery and nose
went into the ocean and the wings flew somewhere down the face. Not a
bad day though because I got about an hour of soaring in prior and they have
these HUGE flying wing looking birds I believe are Kormorans who decided to
fly with me. Naturally I took a bunch of photos prior to soaring and ran my
camera battery out before I tossed off.
Aruba is a serious place to just lay back and relax. Slow pace, simple,
and about sitting on the beach. For $70 you can have a full day of
snorkling, scuba, sailing, food, all sorts of stuff at place called DePalm
Island....15 minutes from any motel resort room.
Those people who think Aruba is the evil empire need to
visit it first to see that its about the size of a Super Walmart and nearly
their entire population was involved in the land search.
The Dutch pull all
the official strings. It is sooo small it is far safer than any vacation
location in the USA....course what would I know ..oh yeah I travel more than
most people in the world.
And by the way, every regular person there is still vigilant... and not
because they are worried about re-election inspired boycotts but because most
of them have kids themselves...however all that being said... I don't trust
them all that much...I mean how can you when they don't seem to fly TD
contests at all?????
Feel free to reply with something profound and passionate.... as soon as
YOU get back from being there. If you want a photo of Carlos and
Charlies....just ask I'll send it to you :-)
