I got the following reply from a friend in a private email. I won't disclose
the name but you can see that in the Midwest the statement holds some water.
You need to mover where you get some bang for you housing buck.  :>)

Well in the northeast, I wish I could buy a model for monthly house
payments.

I always wonder about people who talk about cost.  Most people fly the
same sailplane for a few years.  So the average cost is pretty low.
Especially when you compare it to the money folks sink into the electric
stuff which is obsolete the next year...

It's all about how you set your priorities. With the exception of
weather and what appears to be an excess of GPS on RCSE at the moment. I
also know a lot of guys with families who can only fly because of ARF's.
They only have enough spare time to get out for flying and don't have
the time to build.
