Sounds interesting: the ext[234] resize can even proceed in the background, while the system keeps booting normally. This could be done by a normal initscript, without even messing with initrd. Admittedly, when I started this thread, I had no idea that zyx-liveinstaller even existed :-) Yes, this could indeed be the simplest solution: tell users to create a read-only installation media by burning the ISO. Since Fedora 12, the live ISO image also contains a bootable MBR, so users can just dd it to a master USB stick: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraLiveCD/USBHowTo#Using_dd Users would then boot this media and run zyx-liveinstaller to create one or more production SoaS sticks. Peter's proposal to use liveinst may be equally valid. Both tools are in Fedora and both produce more or less the same end result. The UI, however, varies considerably.
