The company, which is backed by Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and Deutsche Bank, said it has introduced a new product called OnDemand for Government, which is aimed at helping government agencies develop user-friendly applications, and is hosted in the cloud and sold on a subscription basis. Pricing on the new software was not announced by the company. Western Digital Reports Record Results ---- Irvine-based disk drive maker Western Digital reported its annual results last night, saying that it had record revenues of $12.5 billion, and net income of $1.6 billion for its fiscal 2012. The publicly held company said that compares to a fiscal 2011 revenue of $9.5 billion and $726 million in net income. The company now has now amassed a huge, $3.2 billion in cash and cash equivalents, after generating $1.1 billion in cash from operations in its June quarter. CitizenHawk Unveils Automated UDRP Filing Tool ---- Aliso Viejo-based CitizenHawk, which develops online tools to help brand owners detect violations, cybersquatters, and more, said this morning that it has launched a new tool which automates UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) filings. (More...) http://www.socaltech.com/citizenhawk_unveils_automated_udrp_filing_tool/s-0044064.html National Technical Systems Hires New CFO ---- Calabasas-based National Technical Systems, which provides outsourced engineering and test services, reported this morning that it has named a new Chief Financial Officer. The firm said it has named Michael El-Hillow to the position, reporting to President and CEO William C. McGinnis. El-Hillow joins the firm from Massachusetts-based solar panel manufacturer Evergreen Solar, where he served as CFO from 2007 to 2010, and later was appointed CEO to restructure and sell the company. He also has served at MTM Technologies, Advanced Energy Industries, and was previously an audit partner at Ernst & Young. Gehry Technologies Buys Bimshare ---- Los Angeles-based Gehry Technologies, which develops 3D, project collaboration and building information modeling (BIM) softare, said Wednesday that it has acquired Bimshare, a developer of building information modeling (BIM) data sharing software. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Gehry said the buy would expand its cloud-based, service offerings. Both firms serve building owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and others in the building industry. Peregrine Semiconductor Estimates IPO Pricing Range ---- San Diego-based Peregrine Semiconductor, the developer of CMOS, RF integrated circuits, has set an estimated pricing range for its its IPO. According to a filing by the firm this morning, it is estimating a IPO price of between $14.00 and $16.00 per share. The firm is offering 5,500,000 shares of its stock in its IPO. The firm also said it has applied to list on the Nasdaq Global Market as PSMI. Peregrine is venture backed by Morgenthaler Partners, Advanced Equities, Palisades Ventures, and others. The move pulls the firm's IPO out of a long dormancy -- the company had originally filed for an IPO back in 2010. Usually, companies set an estimated IPO pricing range as they explore the market for their offerings and embark on their roadshow, with actual IPO pricing in the days or weeks following. Oversee.net Teams On Security Effort ---- Los Angeles-based Oversee.net, the provider of Internet performance marketing and domain name services, is looking to better secure the Internet against malware, with a link with security firm Team Cymru. Oversee.net said the deal involves its DomainSponsor business unit, which will tap Team Cymru to help detect and identify potentially malicious communications in its traffic monetization network. Oversee.net said it expects that the move will help internet service providers and hosting companies protect their networks from malicious activity. Oversee said it expected the move would help combat the perception that domain parking networks--who often use Oversee's services to monetize their domain names--are helping to spread malware. Slacker Boosts Programming With Public Radio ---- San Diego-based Slacker, the online radio streaming service, is in a major expansion of its content today, as public radio broadcaster American Public Media said it launched a number of new, interactive stations on Slacker. The broadcaster--which publishes Marketplace and The Current, two popular public radio programs--said its programming will be available for free on the Slacker service. Public radio listeners are likely familiar with American Public Media via its programs Marketplace with Kai Ryssdal, Marketplace Morning Report, Marketplace Tech Report and Marketplace Money.The Current is a non-commercial, music station. Nirvanix Connects With CenturyLink ---- San Diego-based cloud storage provider Nirvanix, the provider of cloud-based storage for the enterprise market, has inked a strategic alliance with telecommunications firm CenturyLink, the two announced Wednesday morning. Nirvanix, which is headed by Scott Genereux, said the channel alliance will give CenturyLink's customers to access the Nirvanix cloud storage service at higher speeds, via a direct link via CenturyLink's network. Financial details of the deal were not announced by the companies. Enterprise customers used Nirvanix for cloud-based backup and data storage. Chill Launches New Video Front Page ---- Los Angeles-based social video site Chill, fresh off an injection of $8M from its investors, is launching a brand new effort to help consumers find the most interesting videos on the Internet from its home page. The new feature, called Chill Front Page, features an easy to navigate, front page filled with videos of what is going on now, based on both social data and data collected from Chill's social video service. http://bit.ly/OD3krQ Life Technologies Buys Pinpoint Genomics ---- Carslbad-based Life Technologies said Wednesday that it has acquired Pinpoint Genomics, a developer of an early-stage, non-small cell lung cancer test. Financial terms of the buy were not announced.
