VAL9000 Wins Allscripts Challenge Award
----
Pacific Palisades-based VAL9000, a developer of technology which gives
doctors access to clinical information systems by voice, is one of
fifteen companies which recently scored an award for innovative
electronic health records software. The company, which is led by
Richard Koffler, a well known local angel investor, was one of 15
companies which split $150,000 in awards for their innovation in the
Allscripts Open App Challenge. Allscripts said more than 200
developers entered the challenge.  VAL9000 develops a service which
gives physicians access to medical records via phone, providing notes,
update charts, and patient data via voice commands. VAL9000's
technology was developed at the UCLA Medical Center.

Iteris Eyes Commercial Markets
----
Santa Ana-based Iteris, the provider of traffic information systems
products, said today that it has expanded its line of traffic and
weather-related data and analytics software. The firm said it will be
expanding its traffic data software from its current customers in the
federal, state, local, and municipal market, into the commercial
marketplace. The firm said it expects to be expanding its products to
include management applications, arterial solutions, predictive
traffic, and weather-based data and analytics for both public and
commercial markets, including providing that data to media,
automotive, and consumer applications.

EnGenius Debuts New Line Of Wireless Products
----
Costa Mesa-based wireless equipment maker EnGenius Technologies
announced a new line of long-range, wireless products this morning.
The firm said it has debuted a new family of weatherproof, long-range
outdoor Wireless-N access points and point-to-point bridges. The new
products are aimed at small businesses, restaurants, cafes, and
shopping malls, as well as schools, municipalities, and other
organizations looking to provide wireless capability in open areas.
The range of devices starts at $59.99.

OSI Systems Gets $6M Order
----
Hawthorne-based electronics systems maker OSI Systems announced this
morning that it has received a $6M order for electronic assemblies.
The firm said the order came from an un-named OEM of gaming terminals
for the electronic gaming and lottery industry. No other details on
the customer were announced.

ADVENTRX Becomes Mast Therapeutics
----
San Diego-based ADVENTRX Pharmaceuticals announced this morning that
it has renamed itself Mast Therapeutics. The firm also said it has
swapped its ticker symbol to MSTX on the NYSE market. The firm, which
is developing treatments for sickle cell disease and acute limb
ischemia, did not give a reason for the name change.

NetDNA Targets Asian Content Delivery Network Services
----
Los Angeles-based content delivery network operator NetDNA is ramping
up its efforts to provide CDN services in Asia, the company said
Friday. NetDNA said it will provide accelerated traffic through its
Singapore point-of-presence, for a flat $10 per month for existing
customers of its MaxCDN service. NetDNA said its flat rate compares to
the "hundreds or tens of thousands" of dollars that competitive CDNs
charge for per-megabit acceleration. NetDNA said its content delivery
network services start at $39.95 a year. NetDNA said it is targeting
website operators and bloggers looking to reach the Asian market.
