The startup--headed by Brian Lee, and co-founded by Jessica Alba--said its new app, HonestBaby, lets parents monitor their child's development, growth, and activity. (More...) http://bit.ly/YtcjVm Abalta Technologies Looks To Link Smartphones, Connected Cars ---- Torrance-based Abalta Technologies, which develops software for the automobile industry, said this week that it has launched a new product which helps sync smartphone driving apps with any connected car. The firm said its new WEBLINK product allows smartphones to become the primary, in-vehicle computing device for cars. Abalta is targeting car manufacturers with its software. The company's CEO is Michael O'Shea, who has previously served at such companies as InfoGation and NAVTEQ. RealtyTrac Names VP ---- Irvine-based RealtyTrac, the provider of information on foreclosures, bank-owned properties, and other property, said Thursday that it has named Lisa Mackey as its Senior Vice President of the RealtyTrac network. The firm said that Mackey has worked in residential real estate for more than 30 years, including serving at Prudential Real Estate, Century 21 and Carrington Holding's real estate division Atlantic & Pacific Real Estate (APRE). It looks like startup incubation has even extended into a new, pilot middle school at the L.A. Unified School District, which says it is going to teach middle school students how to launch their own businesses. Financial details of the merger were not disclosed. The firm said the new company will operate as Q1Media, and use AdExcite's brand name for its video and mobile video product lines. Phil Banfield, co-founder of AdExcite, becomes CEO of Q1Media, with Bill Wiemann, founder and CEo of Q1Media, serving as President and COO. The company says it now has 30 full time employees, and expects to add up to 25 new employees spread across the combined company's Austin, Los Angeles, and New York locations. Powerwave Slashes Staff In Santa Ana ---- Powerwave Technologies, a developer of wireless antennas and amplifiers, is cutting 182 employees in Santa Ana, according to a WARN notice from the state. The layoffs were first uncovered by the OC Register. Santa Monica-based application testing software developer TestFlight said Thursday that it has launched a new tool, which provides analytics to mobile app developers.
