According to the two, the integration deals allows CAKE's users to easily send payments to vendors in 190 countries. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Tipalti develops software-as-a-service to streamline mass payments for affiliate networks, crowdsourcing and crowdfunding sites, and others, helping companies pay vendors using a variety of payment methods (direct deposit, ACH, PayPal, checks, prepaid card, etc.) and also handling the complexity of things like W9 tax forms and 1099's. The company is led by Chen Amit, the former CEO of Atrica. NetDNA Wins StumbleUpon.com ---- Los Angeles-based content delivery network operator NetDNA reports this morning that its CDN services have been selected by StumbleUpon. NetDNA said that StumbleUpon, a popular content discovery services, has selected its MaxCDN service to improve its website performance. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. NetDNA said StumbleUpon has more than 25 million users worldwide. Boingo Expands In Europe ---- Boingo Wireless, the Los Angeles-based Wi-Fi network operator, is expanding in Europe today, saying it has inked a network access deal with GOWEX. (More...) http://bit.ly/YgyYXu PathCentral Lands Johns Hopkins ---- Irvine-based PathCentral, which operates an online community for pathologists, said today that the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine has joined its online information exchange and consultation forum. Financial impact of the win was not announced. PathCentral's online service lets physicians upload case files and images, and lets pathologists send and perform consultations. Mojix Selected By BP ---- Los Angeles-based passive RFID tracking technology provider Mojix said last week that it has been selected by BP, for a $7 billion, offshore drilling project. Mojix said it will provide its technology for an oil platform product in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland. Mojix did not disclose how much the deal for use in the Clair Ridge oil platform project is worth to the firm, but did say that BP will use the firm to manage and monitor its supply chain, including tracking crates, heavy life and other equipment, containers, and vessels. BP is using the Mojix STAR 3000 System. Samsung S4 Teardown: Lots of Qualcomm Chips ---- There's been a huge boom in smartphones over the last few years, with companies like Apple and Samsung growing to dominate the smartphone market. Southern California -- among consumers -- doesn't even enter into into the picture as a place which is leading the smartphone revolution. However, as a teardown of the Samsung Galaxy S4 released by iFixit show, Samsung's latest smartphone is actually mostly chips from Qualcomm (with a few other components thrown in). http://bit.ly/14Wv09h ZEFR Adds Music Labels, NASCAR ---- Venice, California-based ZEFR, formerly known as MovieClips, is expanding out its partnerships, saying Friday that it has added Universal Music Group, Sony Music, Ultra Music, and NASCAR as partners for the company. ZEFR--which helps content owners monetize their content--has been notably vague about its business since its rebranding last August--but that new business revolves in part on claiming infringing (aka pirated) content on YouTube for brands, by using its technology to identify and claimed licensed content it finds on YouTube and gaining the advertising revenue from that content.
