(More...) http://bit.ly/15QbeZq SOA Software Launches New Product ---- Los Angeles-based enterprise software developer SOA Software has rolled out a new product this morning, focused on management of application programming interfaces (APIs). The company said it snew product, LIfecycle Manager for APIs, helps enterprises manage the development use of APIs, services, and software assets. According to the firm, the new software helps planning, designing, developing, operating, maintaining and retiring enterprise APIs. Cost of the new product was not announced. ServiceNow Wins University Customer ---- San Diego-based ServiceNow announced today that it has signed on Bournemouth University as a customer. Bournemouth University is based in England, and has more than 18,000 students. According to ServiceNow, the university is using its software-as-a-service for helping to consolidate multiple IT systems, and provide IT self service to faculty, staff, and students. Financial details of the win were not announced. ServiceNow's enterprise IT automation software is used for managing IT incidents, change management, configuration, knowledge base, and other IT services. DriveCam Names Technology Vet As New CFO ---- San Diego-based DriveCam, the firm which develops hardware and services to help monitor fleet driving, said today that it has named Paul J. Pucino as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Pucino is a veteran CFO at technology companies in Southern California, and has previously served as EVO and CFO of THQ, EVP and CFO of Classmates Media Corporation (part of United Online), in addition to serving as Digital Insight, Galileo International, Tekelec, and Dean Witter, Discovery & Co. Pucino replaces William Ruff, who has become SVP, Finance. DriveCam's systems use video and sensors to help track fleet driver performance and safety. Cool Planet Raises $29.9M More On Way To $100M Round ---- Camarillo-based Cool Planet Energy Systems said Friday that it has raised $29.9M in funding, part of an ongoing, $100M Series D financing round. According to Cool Planet, the funds will go towards the construction of its first, commercial production facility. Cool Planet Biosystems is developing biofueld technology, which is being applied to the renewable fuels industry. The company says it process actually removes carbon from the atmosphere, by producing biochar for use in the agriculture industry. Snapchat--which operates a mobile photo messaging service which is very popular with the teenage set--is backed by Benchmark Capital, and had previously raised $12.5M in its Series A, earlier this year. Southern California has been quite the hotbed of suddenly fashionable, mobile companies -- the most recent having been Viddy, which raised a funding at huge valuations last year, only to recap the firm and return funds after failing to live up to its valuation and expectations. http://bit.ly/ZWb7wS weMonitor Takes $5.3M For Energy Monitoring Services ---- San Diego-based weMonitor, a new startup targeting the home energy efficiency market, said last week that it has raised $5.3M in a funding round, from Dominion Investment Group. The company said it will use the funding to expand its technical and marketing team, plus release its first products in Q4. weMonitor is headed by Dean McDaniel, and says that it will help users track their consumption habits and provide energy efficiency tips, and also help connect users with technicians to help improve a home's energy use. According to ParkMe, Audi and INRIX have added new, real-time parking information to their navigation systems, by pulling in live, parking data from ParkMe. Financial details of the link were not disclosed. The new system lets drivers automatically navigate to the cheapest and closest parking spots near their destination. ParkMe says it now has data for over 18,000 parking facilities in North America. DogVacay Ties With Cesar Millan On Giveaway ---- Are you a fan of the "dog whisperer", Cesar Millan?
