Scott Turicchi--its current President--as CFO. Turicchi has previously served as CFO of j2 Global. j2 Global said the move does not result from any disagreement with j2 Global on any matter relating to j2 Global’s operations, policies or practices. Griggs had been CFO of j2 Global since 2007, when she took over from Turicchi. j2 Global owns a wide range of electronic fax, email, cloud services, online backup, email marketing, and other services, in addition to owning publisher Ziff Davis. Cytori Therapeutics Adds To Board ---- San Diego-based biopharmaceuticals developer Cytori said Wednesday that it has named Gail K. Naughton as a new, independent director at the company. Naughton was the co-founder of Advanced Tissue Sciences, where she also served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and Director. She also was the Dean of the College of Business Administration at San Diego State University. Naughton currently serves as CEO and Chairman of Histogen. Cytori Therapeutics is focused on treating cardiovascular disease and other conditions. Qualcomm Buys Wilocity ---- San Diego-based Qualcomm said Wednesday afternoon that it has acquired Wilocity, a developer of 60 Ghz wireless chipsets. According to Qualcomm, it will use the buy to bolster its technology and use of 60 Ghz wireless for the mobile, computing, and networking market. Wilocity develops chipsets for the 802.11ad standard (WiGig). In conjunction with the acquisition, Qualcomm said it is releasing a new set of tri-band platforms which combine Qualcomm Atheros Wi-Fi and WiGig solutions, and are based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810--the platforms are being aimed at 4k video streaming, peer to peer content sharing, networking, and other applications. Radical.FM Spins New Android App ---- Venice-based music service Radical.FM has rolled out a brand new Android app, saying Wednesday that the new app is commercial free, and has a catalog of 25 million songs. The company already hsa an iOS app which was released last year. Radical.FM says it compensates artists, composers, and labels for all the music streamed on the site using a "pay what you can" donation model. The startup is led by Tom McAlvey. The funding came from SPK Capital, Castanea Partners, and angel investors Janet Gurwitch (Laura Mercier Cosmetics, Neiman Marcus), Ron Frasch (Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman), and Paul Pressler (Gap, Walt Disney). The company said the new funding brings its total raised to more than $50M. Interlink Electronics said it has added Angela Blatteis of the Gores Group, and Dr. Frank Levinson of Phoenix Venture Partners (PVP) to its board. Blattei is Ambassador and consultant to The Gores Group; Levinson is Venture Partner at PVP, and also serves as Managing Director of the Small World Group (SWG) Incubator. Levinson also was founder, CTO, and Chairman of testing and optical components company Finisar.
